Mein neues Notebook hat eine Webcam im Deckel integriert. Die Kamera wird von Ubuntu nicht automatisch erkannt, weil der Chipsatz der Syntek unbekannt ist. Aber es gibt ein Sourceforge Projekt. Dort hat man vor einigen Tagen die Version 1.0 zur Verfügung gestellt. Die Webcam funktioniert damit prinzipiell, nur sind die Farben etwas daneben
Camorama bringt ja noch allerlei Filter mit, wenn man mit Rechtsclick auf die freie Fläche clickt, kann man eine Colorcorrection hinzufügen, dann sieht der Herr auch gleich natürlicher aus und das T-Shirt ist wirklich Blau
Zur Installation.
Die Sourcen des Treibers von syntekdriver.sourceforge.net downloaden. Auspacken und compilieren. Mir fehlte ctags, welches vom Makefile verwendet wird. apt-get install exuberant-ctags schaffte abhilfe.
damit das Modul erfolgreich geladen werden kann, muss zuvor das videodev Modul geladen sein. Also modprobe videodev. Nun kann mit insmod das neue Camera Modul geladen werden. insmod stk11xx.ko. Sollte das Modul nicht gefunden werden, dann einfach den Pfad zum Modul mit angeben.
Nun kann mit camorama die Funktion der Karmera überprüft werden. Wem das manuelle laden der beiden Module zuviel ist, kann videodev in /etc/modules dazu tragen und den insmod /pfad/zu/stk11xx.ko in /etc/rc.local ans Ende schreiben.
Zum perfekten Funktionieren fehlt noch ein automatischer Farb- und Weißabgleich. Das leistet das Modul leider zur Zeit noch nicht.
Hinweise: Im Asus G1 ist die Webcam DC-1135, ein 1.3 MPixel Device.

it will work after restart too.
Danke für den Hinweis, ich habe mein Problem allerdings mit einem Hotfix gelöst, siehe http://zockertown.de/s9y/index.php?/archives/848-Asus-G1-Syntek-Webcam.html Aber mittlerweile ist ja der Treiber ein gutes stück weiter, wollte ich schon nochmal drüber bloggen, momentan hat aber der Server Priorität.
